Technical Program Consultant
BKi seeks a Technical Program Consultant to support implementation of its energy efficiency residential program in Southern California. The Technical Program Consultant will be responsible for performing in-field inspections of upgrades, advising and mentoring contractors, acting as the liaison to participating homeowners, and providing general support to the Program Manager of BKi’s comprehensive building retrofit programs. The successful candidate will be well acquainted with California Title 24 and will have applied knowledge of building energy performance codes, standards, and technologies, particularly for residential buildings. The qualifying candidate will also have the ability to utilize energy efficiency modeling software such as EnergyPro to calculate energy savings and inform program design. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with 2 or more years of technical experience in the energy and buildings field.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Technical Program Consultant will perform the following and other duties as assigned:
Perform field inspections to ensure that the performance and quality of residential building energy upgrades conform to established regulatory standards.
Perform analysis on energy efficiency modeling software such as EnergyPro to calculate energy savings and inform program designs.
Prepare, organize, and maintain inspection records.
Formulate, implement, and maintain quality control guidelines within program policies and procedures.
Serve as liaison to contractors and provide excellent customer service in responding to inquiries related to the energy efficiency residential program.
Actively work with clients, stakeholders, partners, and the public to further program goals.
Research and maintain knowledge of pertinent information and developments in local, state, and federal regulations and laws.
Participate in the organization and delivery of program activities.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent hands-on experience
Certification as a BPI Building Analyst (or certified for another BPI specialty certification)
Certification as a HERS Rater
2+ years of experience in the building industry
2+ years of experience with energy modeling software
Working knowledge of California Title 24 and energy efficiency codes and standards
Proven organizational skills and experience as a member of a project or program management team
Proven ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels in a professional, ethical, and nonpartisan manner
Comfort working in a highly regulated environment with strong need for transparency
Good judgment skills, ability to quickly respond to the demands of various stakeholders
Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills
Friendly, outgoing nature and an eagerness to serve clients, partners, and the public interest
Advanced skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Windows operating systems, experience with Salesforce preferred
Access to a personal vehicle and a valid driver's license
Compensation and Benefits
The Technical Program Consultant is a full time position. Salary is based on qualifications and experience.
