Rego,
They came out of the ASHRAE RP-472 work. You could consult:
1) The final report, available from ASHRAE.
2) Steve Harris' PhD thesis. (It is available online from UMI
Proquest Digital Dissertations:
http://wwwlib.umi.com/dissertations/gateway
Main Author: Harris, Steven Merrill,
Title: A study to categorize walls and roofs on the basis of
thermal response /
: 1988
3) There is a 1988 paper by Harris and McQuiston, but at a quick glance, it
doesn't
show how the decrement factors were derived:
A study to categorise walls and roofs on the basis of thermal response
AUTHOR: Harris S M., McQuiston F C.
CITATION: ASHRAE Trans. 1988, vol.94, Part 2, 688-715, 4 figs, 6 tabs, refs.
KEYWORDS: Walls, roofs, heat flow, thermal inertia
YEAR: 1988
I hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Jeff Spitler
