understanding the theory and concepts of the building simulation.

  I am a new graduate student studying energy management.  What is the best
way to learn what simulation software is available?  Are there any books or
websites that you all can recommend that will give a good introduction
building simulation/heat load calculations and descriptions of software that
is commonly used?
