Research as Quentin Berg Assistant:
* Initiated the project: The Greening of the Science and Technology
Building. The project is dedicated to turning the building into a living
laboratory for sustainable and green research, pertaining to all facets
of the building. The project is supported by the Provost of the College as
well as the Physical Plant at campus.
* Developed research methodology to investigate, model and ultimately
reduce the energy footprint of the Science and Technology Building.
* This research dealt with the active and passive systems of the
building. (Embedded energy was not included in the research) The results
are currently pending.
* The following research methodology was used for this research:
* A walk-through audit to identify and characterize the
building (problems, deficiencies, issues).
* Real-time monitoring equipment installed, data collected
and recorded using both Siemens and Square D systems.
* Developed a software building model using the eQuest
simulation tool (Energy Design Resources).
* Verified the eQuest model with real-time data collected
by the monitoring equipment.
* Developed a host of passive and active sustainable
solutions/strategies for energy reduction.
* Presented solutions to the Physical Plant for
implementation consideration.
