TREAT is a simulation tool designed to support single family and multifamily
energy audit with an hourly simulation tool. The tool provides economic
analysis and fuel bill analysis using weather normalization routine based on
imported actual daily weather. The tool allows the creation of detailed
improvements and the bundling of these improvements into multiple packages
for analysis of interactivity and comparison across bundles of improvements.

Although the tool is focused on residential structures, users also have
adapted the tool for use in small commercial and office buildings.

TREAT uses the SUNREL simulation core developed by NREL for hourly loads
analysis. TREAT is used by single family and multifamily energy audit and
installation programs in a number of states as well as by private users.

Subject: [BLDG-SIM] Simulation tools for energy audits

Does anyone have experience in using one of the building simulation tools
for
commercial/institutional energy audits? I am looking for software to assist

mainly in evaluating the economics of various energy efficiency measures
such as
boiler upgrades, insulation, window replacements, controls, etc. The
building
types are generally churches, schools, office/retail, multi-family. Also
looking for software to assist in utility bill analysis, but that may not be
in
this sector.

Would appreciate your thoughts about the applicability of any of the DOE or
3rd
party tools. Thanks for any input you might have.
