[BLDG-SIM] eQuest: Mathematical model for chiller type=HEAT PUMP?

Hello:

Here's a stab at your question since it seems like nobody has answered this.

DOE-2.1e uses a family of curve fits to "simulate" a chiller, heat pump, boiler, fan, etc. You can read about this in p. IV.14 of the DOE2.1a Reference manual. You will also need to read about Equipment Quadratics on page V.37 of the same manual. These curve fits are default or user defined linear, bi-linear, quadratic, bi-quadratic or cubic curves that are listed in the output page PV-G of the Plant program, when specified. 

To see what your model is using, you'll need to run your building, determine which quadratics you are using for your "heat pump", and then look at the quadratics using the PV-G command for your building, perhaps plot these in a spreadsheet and compare against ARI specs.
