[BLDG-SIM] 90.1-2004 ASHRAE Basecase

Apply caution here, because F-values are conductance per lineal foot and
not per square foot. They are meant to apply to slab perimeters and not
floor slab areas. You would incur significant errors if you multiply
F-values by areas. C-values are basically the same as U-values, but
without outside surface conductance coefficients (like air films).

ASHRAE 90.1-2004, page 7 - Definition of F-Factor (loss through
slab-on-grade floor), page 6 - Definition of C-Factor (loss through
underground wall). Note units are the same as U-Value. I believe you use
them for the same purpose as U-Factor, except your outside medium isn't
air, it is dirt.

Subject: [BLDG-SIM] 90.1-2004 ASHRAE Basecase
Hello,

I had a question regarding setting up a baseline model based on the
ASHRAE 90.1-2004 standard. For the envelope requirements, the required
values for the "Slab on Grade Flrs" and "Below Grade Walls" are in terms
of "F-values" and "C-values" respectively. Since eQuest only takes the
U or R values as inputs, I was wondering how these F and C values
corresponded to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
