[BLDG-SIM] External Loads

In the past, I've calculated what the equivalent full load hours are for these types of loads. Then I can calculate the annual kWh, and average it out over the entire year to provide an adjusted connected kW load factor tied to an always on schedule.

All,

How about a parasitic load that are tied to the operation of a system -- in other words loads that don't operate directly on the basis of a schedule. Specifically I have heat recovery pumps that need to turn on only when the ERV is operational, and turn off when it ERV is on standby, or of course off.

Thanks

Brandon

Lynn,

I'm assuming by external loads that you mean parking lot lighting, for example? If so, you would model this as a direct load to the electrical meter. This is set up by creating a schedule, double clicking on the electric meter, entering the energy use, and then applying the schedule.

Hope that helps
Jim

I need to model external loads in eQuest and see in the tutorial and the end-use splits that they are accounted for, but I can't seem to find anything that addresses how they are entered. I'm sure it's obvious to those who know, but it's a mystery to me. Guidance please?

Thanks.
