European Energy SimulationDesignBuilder is being used widely in Europe and supports SI and IP units. It combines energy simulation (including natural ventilation and daylight control) with heating and cooling load calculations. It has a high quality OpenGL user interface, uses the EnergyPlus simulation engine and also has Spanish and Italian language translation and support available. It does not yet support 3-D BIM but future versions will.

As eQUEST does not currently support SI units, what energy simulation programs are typically used in European countries? Are there other programs used besides IES-VE, Ecotect and ESP-r that support SI units. Do any of these programs combine heating and cooling load calculation with energy simulation like Trane Trace 700? Which programs support 3-D BIM? We have projects coming up in Spain and Italy that need to be simulated by resident engineers.
