Howdy Folks:

Paul, thank you very much for the follow up. Forgive me all, I forgot to mention the software I am using, eQuest. It appears I may have solved my own question so I thought I'd post that back to the forum.

In eQuest I created a bunch of different 'shells' for the areas above and below the sloping grade. Then using the manual coordinate placement of shells was able to stack them following along the grade. Somewhat exhaustive but it seems to be working.

Thank you,
Josh

Josh

Kind of depends on what modelling tool you choose. DesignBuilder make this easy as you just draw the ground next to the building using the ground obstructions component type (from memory) and it then assigns the correct adjacency conditions to your model. To do different wall panels you just use sub-panels.

IES, you can do similar you just have to set adjacency conditions within the model. Seeing they now have their google sketchup link that might make it quite easy to do too. Same sort of thing in TAS.

Not sure in E-quest, but I'm sure someone will let you know.

Regards

Paul

Hello:

I was wondering how do I model a building that is built into a hill side where portions of floors are exposed and portions are below grade. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Josh
