Dear Christoph,
I have been working for the last years with IDA ICE 3.0. You can find
quite a lot of information in the following report
apps1.eere.energy.gov/buildings/tools_directory/pdfs/contrasting_the_cap
abilities_of_building_energy_performance_simulation_programs_v1.0.pdf
There have been several validation tests. You can always contact Equa
(the company that have developed IDA ICE 3.0); they can probably help
you with your questions. Additionally, there is a new version of IDA ICE
(4) soon to be released that includes a new window model based on the
ISO standard 15099.
Hope this helped a bit
Best regards,
Harris

Subject: [Bldg-sim] IDA - ICE
Dear all:
I have recently come across a European energy simulation program called
'IDA Indoor Climate and Energy 3.0' (http://www.equa.se/ice/intro.html).
The program seems to have undergone some rigorous validation efforts and
its modular structure looks quite attractive for advanced users and
researchers. Has anybody on this list used it and could you share your
impressions and how capable the tool is in modeling complex systems and
geometries? Are there any mature GUIs and comprehensive libraries
available for the tool? Thank you.
Christoph
