Opportunity for Post Doctoral Fellow to work on Low Energy Cooling in Buildings

Air conditioning contributes very substantially to the energy use,
complexity, and cost of commercial buildings. The Lawrence Berkeley
National Laboratory (LBNL) will start a research project in the fall
of 2009 to identify and evaluate alternatives to conventional air conditioning
that can maintain acceptable indoor environmental conditions in moderate climates.
The initial activities in this multi-year project will focus on concept
generation in conjunction with designers, manufacturers and building owners.
Follow-on activities will include energy and cost analyses using simulation,
experimental development and testing and planning of a design guide.

LBNL is seeking an exceptional post doctoral fellow who will play a major role in
the execution of this project. Candidates should:
-- have a strong general knowledge of commercial building energy issues
with specific expertise in commercial HVAC systems
-- have at least a general understanding of indoor environmental quality
issues
-- have substantial experience in building energy modeling, preferably using
EnergyPlus
-- have strong verbal communication and networking skills in English
-- have a well-demonstrated ability to write high quality technical
papers in English.
