[Bldg-sim] Modeling Baseline Exterior wall for Renovation

It seems like you're thinking of what needs to be done for district energy.

According to ASHRAE 90.1-2004 Appendix G, "For existing building envelopes, the baseline building design shall reflect existing conditions prior to any revisions that are part of the scope of work being evaluated".

You may be right in that it's been changed in a CIR, although they tend to make things easier for the project team most of the time.

The way it works is as follows:

-Step 1, Compare proposed model to baseline model with existing wall and use this to achieve points
(p. 181 of LEED NC 2.2 EA Credit 1 Calculations Section)

-Step 2, Compare proposed model to baseline model with ASHRAE 90.1 walls as a check to make sure proposed is at least this efficient
(At the moment I can’t remember where I read this, maybe a CIR? Can anyone confirm this?)

I am working on a renovated building and am wondering whether the

baseline exterior wall should be the current existing wall or the

baseline wall system as described by ASHRAE 90.1. If it matters, we are

going for LEED NC points because of the extent of the renovation, not

LEED EB.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
