[Bldg-sim] Equipment Loads

Thanks,

found the attachment, which says, that in normal office-building (Europe, 8
stops) an average of 200000 cycles will occur. I calculated the annual energy
demand as follows:

Q = Number of cycles * Total Power * Total Height of Building * 40% (average
distance per cycle) / Speed = [-] * [kW] * [m] * [-] * [m/s] = kWs ...8760
h/year etc..

Johannes.

While the 90.1 User's Manual does provide schedules, it does not tell you
what the average maximum power demand is. Getting power demand information
from elevator vendors is, well, tricky. The best approach could be to
determine the motor size of the elevator and apply a loading factor to it.
What is a good loading factor? Good question - how about 50%? Does anyone
else have any suggestions on this?

Eric

Dear Johannes,

The ASHRAE 90.1 User Manual has "typical" schedules for elevator use in Table
G.

I have another problem calculating loads...

How can I determine how much energy an elevator consumes? I know the power
the elevator needs if it is in operation. But how can I estimate how many
times a day the elevator operates?

Any suggestions?

Freundliche Grüße

Hello Luke,

Try with ASHRAE Fundamentals 2005 , Ch 30. Look for Internal heat gains for
appliances.
If there is no specific info for washer & drier, pick similar appliances and
use the data for your calculations.
Hope this helps.
Best, Sasa

Hello all, happy Friday.

I have a model that has a commercial grade washer and dryer in a space. I
have no equipment information. Can anyone give me some heat load estimates
for these types of equipment? It doesn't have to be perfect, I just need to
account for some heat load.

I appreciate your help,
