[Bldg-sim] IES-VE: Exporting CFD Result in a Text File

There is a recognised exchange format that is acknowledged in commercial
CFD packages and post processors. It is CGNS. Unfortunately I have not
seen reference to it in building simulation CFD packages.

It is very important that any tool or service allows you to get your
data back out of it - i.e. it is not a one-way street allowing
data/model entry but not extraction.

Ideally open standards exist for such interchange, but if not some
simple table-based data dump is infinitely better than nothing.
Documentation of the tool's own file format is another way to achieve
interoperability.

I try very hard to avoid using tools where I have no way to get my
data back out. My experience of the building simulation area is
limited to date, but so far my impression is that the current
situation can best be described as 'poor' on this front.

Mostapha is quite right to expect some kind of open data export.
Wouldn't it be nice to live in a world where we could easily shift
data back and forth between different modelling tools?
