I've taught building energy simulation for more than 25 years to 100s of students, and I can say without reservation that this workshop is a great way to set your modeling career on the right path.

There are several reasons for this. First, it is simply the best thing of its kind out there that I'm aware of. It was developed by a very smart contractor and was critically reviewed by a smart group who have a combined experience of hundreds of years of simulation across multiple platforms, including EQUEST, EnergyPlus, and TRNSYS.

Second, you'll meet some really smart people that can be a future resource for you and your firm as you negotiate your way through the twists and turns of modeling the new high performance buildings -- a tall order for even the best modelers. Third, and finally it will firmly introduce you to the wonders of IBPSA and IBPSA USA, including the vast archive of information available for free on the IBPSA website. We even have a meeting every six months where you can continue to expand your horizons, usually on Saturday night at the ASHRAE meeting.

This course is independent of the ASHRAE BEMP Certification Exam, although the material taught in the course will overlap with some of the topics that may be tested in ASHRAE's BEMP Certification Exam.

The course focuses on best practices for building energy modeling, rather than providing training that would be specific to a particular simulation tool. The topics that are covered in the course and the intended audience are listed at http://www.ibpsa.us/workshops.shtml
