The Optimization Engineer position serves as core member of the Trane Intelligent Services (TIS) Fulfillment Team. This position is responsible for technical analysis supporting TIS sales and service contracts, establishing requirements for monitoring programs, documenting and communicating repair requirements in the field, and following up to ensure Building Performance customers receive timely and accurate assessments of their buildings and HVAC Systems.  The ideal candidate will be experienced in consulting, project management and HVAC systems, control, operation and service, energy conservation and cost reduction planning.

Trane National Service Optimization Engineer provides building systems optimization expertise to demonstrate improvement in the performance of customer buildings via TIS technologies. This position works directly with the Intelligent Services Center on monitoring requirements, field sales teams on new contract sales and fulfillment, customers and account managers.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (others may be added):

∙ Analyze building automation systems and HVAC equipment performance using TIS technologies, building automation systems and field inspection data.
∙ Prepare professional reports to describe findings and recommended actions using charts, graphs, detailed written explanations.
∙ Use a consultative approach to support the objectives of TIS Fulfillment in sales and services.
∙ Work with cross functional teams; interfacing with senior level Trane management, equipment & controls. product engineering, software developers, field technicians, account managers, sales people and customers.
∙ Proficiency in the use of TIS software and reporting tools like Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
∙ Coach ISC Monitoring team in all aspects of building optimization.
∙ Actively explore new technologies and generate new ideas for work simplification and process redesign.
∙ Serve as a technical resource for the engineering team on complex and advanced engineering projects.
∙ Some travel required to Trane sales offices and customer sites within territory.
∙ Consistently meet and exceed the needs of internal and external customers.
∙ Consistently meet short and long-term deadlines.
∙ Demonstrate good judgment, effective decision making, learning, thinking rationally in all situations
∙ Other duties as assigned.


Percentage of Travel:  20%
Education Standard:  Bachelors Degree
Education Type:  Engineering or Engineering Technology

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and at least 6 years work experience in commercial HVAC or facilities engineering required - OR - an equivalent combination of education and work experience required.


PROFICIENCIES INCLUDE:

∙ Control systems design and / or operation experience.
∙ Engineering economics and measurement processes.
∙ Design and application knowledge of facility applied and unitary HVAC systems, control, distribution and electrical systems.
∙ Senior level experience with specialized systems such as compressed air, process cooling / heating, etc.
∙ Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and at least two year experience with some type of energy or building management system.
∙ Excellent communication skills and ability to interface professionally with customers, field offices, engineers and technicians.
