Jill,
It seems you may be mis-understand the questions-- also the normal policy
of the list is to respond to individual posts on their own so that other
people who may have other ideas about the subject then yourself can reply.

With regards to fixed window natural ventilation: Christian who posed the
natural ventilation question has most likely completed more LEED projects
then most people on the list, surly he knows about LEED user and also knows
that there are countless loopholes in and interpretations of ASHRAE 90.1,
especially for natural ventilation a subject that is loosely defined by the
so called rules. I would suggest to use the design builder external CFD
module to demonstrate your concept. I think that it sounds like a situation
of a semi heated space, and that you may be able to make a case for the
same in the baseline as proposed if this an existing building and this is
the the condition of the building envelope before renovation-- if it is a
new building then the design could be changed to be acceptable by the
standards of 90.1 if necessary.

With regards to cold rooms; you could use the Energy Plus walk in
refrigerator objects to model them, and could do an exceptional calculation
to claim the energy saving benefits.
