[Bldg-sim] Shutdown - Status of DOE, NREL, other projects?

All,

Thank you to those that sent replies offline, and to those that didn't because they are frantically doing damage control before getting furloughed. I'll paraphrase the anecdotes (which I have not tried to personally verify):

EPA - closed

-          Portfolio Manager and Target Manager are down.
GSA - closed
NASA - closed
Commerce (NIST) - closed
IRS - closed (at least partially)

DOE/EERE - mixed state of shutdown

-          DOE/EERE funding is not all tied to fiscal year budgets

-          DOE shutdown is still possible, perhaps even this week

National labs - mixed state of shutdown

-          Labs/projects that are industry-funded may be able to stay open longer (but only a few weeks)

-          Labs that are DOE funded will shut down soon, perhaps this week

-          Travel and non-essential spending is curtailed at all labs

-          If DOE shuts down completely, all labs may have to shut down regardless of funding situation

Employees that are furloughed

-          Cannot check email

-          Cannot check voice mail

-          Cannot do any project/lab related work

-          Will not get paid unless Congress authorizes back pay

Again, this information is based on a handful of replies. I have no further information but you can reply to the list and maybe get a your own personal correspondence going.

Can anyone share the status of government-funded projects related to building sciences and energy? Are any of you .gov-types even getting paid right now?
Maybe the people that would know anything can't even check their email, or are home working on that novel they've always wanted to write...
