MIT Assistant Professor in Structural Design (Tenure Track)

The Department of Architecture at MIT seeks candidates for a tenure track faculty position in structural design with a desired emphasis on digital design, computation and fabrication. The position is offered as a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Building Technology Program of the Department of Architecture.
Candidates will be assessed primarily on the record and promise of exemplary research and effective teaching. Also important will be the degree to which a candidate can collaborate in research and teaching with others in diverse engineering and design disciplines. The Department seeks an individual who is committed to advancing knowledge that will enhance the ability of architects and engineers to design and build structural form through the use of digital technologies and computational methods. Other areas of expertise in building technologies will also be considered, particularly as they relate to materials, fabrication, or construction. A doctoral degree is preferred but not required. Teaching experience in a school of architecture or engineering will be valued. The candidate will be expected to advise graduate students in MIT's Building Technology and Master of Architecture degree programs, participate in teaching subjects of building technology as well as architecture design studios at the undergraduate and graduate level and serve as a productive member of the Department and Institute communities.

Applications will be accepted only online through the Interfolio website at http://apply.interfolio.com/22003. Email submissions will not be accepted. Materials must be submitted as PDFs in standard US letter size 8-1/2x11 inches and include: a letter of interest,
curriculum vitae, one-page statement on research, one-page statement on teaching, names and complete contact information for three references, and up to no more than three additional supporting documents that could include papers.

Responses by December 1, 2013 will be given highest priority.

MIT is committed to building a culturally diverse educational environment; women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. EOE.
