[EnergyPlus_Support] Simulation Parameters, What is Solar Distribution?
One of the Building parameters is Solar Distribution.
What is it? How does it work?
The approach for this is covered in the IO Reference under the
description of the Building object. To recap, the three
possible choices for this parameter are:
MinimalShadowing - All beam solar entering the zone will be
absorbed on the floor. Any not absorbed by the floor will be added
to the transmitted diffuse radiation and then uniformly incident on
interior surfaces. Surface geometry does not have to be
described accurately, but should have correct outward normal
resolution. Overhangs/building shading devices should be in correct
relative position to the portion of the building (wall, window, e.g.)
that it is shadowing but the affect will be a simple calculation.
FullExterior - Solar absorptance in the zone is treated as in the
MinimalShadowing option. However, shadow patterns on exterior
surfaces caused by detached shading and attached shading devices (as well
as building self-shading) is now taken into account.
FullInteriorAndExterior - The program will now calculate the
amount of beam radiation falling on each interior zone surface by
projecting the sun's rays. The user should ensure that the
described geometry totally enclose a space.
