I had a similar problem with the 1.0.3 idf editor just when it was newely
released. That was also the time I had switched to windows XP. You need to
insert your Microsoft office disk--it looks for some feature that is in
there.

Other than that, the new idf editor will also not open if the idf file has
more fields than expected for some object. There might be a typo if you
work back and forth between the text editor and the idf editor.
