The best way would be to download the older transition programs (they 
are all in the files area here)  folder: 
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EnergyPlus_Support/files/Utilities/

and do the translations:

V1.1.1 to V1.2.0
V1.2.0 to V1.2.1
V1.2.1 to V1.2.2

in sequence.  after each translation and examining the error file (in 
case there were problems), you need to rename the target file to idf 
for the next translation.  (I would name them something like:)

original
original_V120
original_V121
original_V122

in case something goes wrong.  I would also choose a "full" option 
each time.  I'm not sure when the transition program started dealing 
properly with comments -- so you may need to watch for that too.
