RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Grid shading

Alexandre

You can achieve your 'Grid shading' by placing 10 x 6cm wide X 60cm high
Windows side-by-side, each window having 2 sidefins (1 vertical shading
device each side of each window) and 10 louvres (horizontal blades evenly
spaced).

This is very simple to set up using DesignBuilder - just draw one window of
the correct size, clone it nine times and set up the appropriate external
shading device.

I have put together a simple example grid shading DesignBuilder file - if
you're interested in seeing it please let me know and I will send it to you.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Grid shading

Dear all,

I'm trying to model a shaded façade. It's a south facing façade with an
external shading. The external shading is a mesh of 6 x 6cm squares
with 4cm depth, one meter apart from the outer façade surface.

At first I thought about using two blinds, one vertical and one
horizontal blind postioned one after the other, but I realised that I
can only use one shading device per window.

I could try to model the grid as an equivalent shading device, but I
think that this is not so easy to do (determining the grid's radiation
properties), and on the other hand the main scope of the model is to
model the actual grid.

Thank you very much for yout time, best regards,
Alexandre
