RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Passive Trombe Wall with Comis

Hello Ian,

Unfortunately, the Trombe wall convection correlations are only appropriate for a sealed, unvented cavity. If you can't do the exterior baffle, your best bet might be to use the CONVECTIONCOEFFICIENTS object to apply some coefficients that are reasonable for the air flow conditions.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Passive Trombe Wall with Comis

Since I am unable to use the exterior baffle module for my particular double skin façade, I'm wondering about using the Trombe wall interior convection calculations coupled with COMIS to calculate the buoyancy driven air flow. The convection coefficients for the surfaces will be based on Trombe wall equations for buoyancy flows and the COMIS will simply be used to calculate the change in air flow through the cavity with bottom and top openings. Although the trombe wall convection coefficient will be based on its own buoyancy calculation rather then COMIS's, I figure they should be pretty similar. Will this combination give me reasonable results or is my logic incorrect.

Thanks

Ian
