Refrigerated Cases and associated compressor racks were introduced in 
V1.2.2 -- April 2005.

We're currently at V1.4, October 2006.

Search the documentation (there is a search bar on the EnergyPlus 
Documentation main menu) for "refrigerated case".  Also, there are 
two "Supermarket" example files that are distributed with EnergyPlus.
