I believe that what you've read is not correct.  In V2.0, warning 
messages show when the IDF dimensions are changed.  I believe the 
Window5 data file dimensions always take precedence.  Are you not 
seeing these warnings?

Another option for modeling windows to "save" execution time is to use 
Window multipliers but then I am less sure how the Window5 data file 
interacts.
