[EnergyPlus_Support] Ground Source Heat Pump example file

Dear Support Group,
I have been studying the GSHPSimple-GLHE.idf (a ground-coupled heat
pump system) file in order to get a better understanding of EPlus's
treatment of these HVAC systems.  I am failing to grasp how EPlus
"sees" this system for these reasons: 1) There are separate coils for
heating and cooling, which are defined as Water coils (COIL:water:...)
2) There is a Bypass defined for cooling, heating, reheat and
condenser loops, 3) There are separate cooling, heating and condenser
pumps.
My expectation for this type of system is that a) the only water coil
should be the condenser coil and perhaps a reheat coil; the cooling
coil will always be DX.  b) I'm not sure what the Bypass branches are
doing, since there is normally a single water piping loop for
condenser water, and finally c) There is normally only one pump which
pumps water in series through the Ground Heat Exchanger and any
supplementary boiler or cooling tower equipment.
If someone has a schematic of the example system, that would be of
great help.  All other assistance appreciated!
