RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Environmental Impact Factors & Fuel Factors

Changing (lowering) the source energy factor in a Fuel Factors object is
the right thing to do. It should be working. Check that you have all
three objects in your input file: "Report Environmental Impact
Factors", "Environmental Impact Factors" and "Fuel Factors"

I think the source data that ships with EnergyPlus is EPA egrid data for
1999. There are newer emissions factors in this report:

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Environmental Impact Factors & Fuel
Factors

I have modeled a building in Pennsylvania and to start I have used the
electricity and natural gas fuel factors found in the data sets as well
as the Environmental Impact Factors to determine the emissions
contributions from this building.

When I spoke with the local electricity company they advised me that
the transmission losses for this location were lower than the state
average. They did not have information reguarding the exact g/J of
emission break down.

I cannot figure out what field controls the electricity transmission
losses.

I thought it was the "J per measured unit factor" or the "source energy
factor", but changing either of these fields does not affect any of the
emission factors (ran the simulation at 1.827, then 1, then 10 and the
emission totals turned out exactly the same).

What are these two fields used for if they have no effect on the final
data, and what is the best way to express a reduction in transmission
losses?

Thank you,

Joseph Lewis
