Hopefully my reply is not too late to solve your problem.
I'm currently working with DesignBuilder, which also employs Energy
Plus for simulation.
In the case of heating and cooling schedule, you can create a compact
schedule, and put the temperature as the base of your schedule. Then
you can set up the minimum temperature that heating equipment will
work, and the maximum temperature that cooling equipment will work.
