RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] very very hard question

Those masses are not included in that air mass term and are not "assumed
to be in equilibrium with the zone air." Their heat balance impact
enters in the hA(T - T) term.

Internal thermal mass is entered with the
Surface:HeatTransfer:InternalMass input object and is treated like a
surface that interacts with zone air much like a normal heat transfer
surface. There is surface convection and thermal radiation with other
surfaces. They have heat capacity and are modeled dynamically.

(If one really did need to control heat capacity of zone air, it can be
done with the Zone Volume Capacitance Multiplier input object. )

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] very very hard question

Hi all
I'm trying to understand from EnergyPlus Engineering Document which is
the energy balance equation used by the software.
Pag 5: Typically, the capacitance Cz would be that of the zone air
only. However, thermal masses assumed to be in equilibrium with the
zone air could be included in this term.
How it calculates the Cz value including thermal masses?
