[EnergyPlus_Support] Energy Plus new user seeking help

Dear All,

I am an energy analyst and trying to learn energy plus. So far, I used to
work on e-Quest but now willing to switch to energy plus. I am using
DesignBuilder as interface tool.

Being a fresh user, I have got a few issues. Kindly support.

1.      DesignBuilder seems not to support complex HVAC systems. For
example, I could not find 'Cooling Tower' option as well as no way to view
the system (as compared to equest). As per my understanding, one will have
to give extra input through *idf files. Please throw some light.

 

2.      Again, with DesignBuilder I am not able to get output in desired
format. I need to compare baseline performance of the building with proposed
one as required for LEED EA Cr1.I found eQuest a bit better in this Area (I
may be wrong due to little knowledge of EnergyPlus). How should I approach
in order to get more useful reports for LEED related work?

 

Any other tips/help for a new energy plus user will be highly appreciated.
