Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Creating a Small Job-Shop with a Citi Multi VRF System and its Energy Analysis

VRF systems are great, However you need to be careful about the way you provide fresh air. Depending on where your building is located you might need some level of dehumidification in order to limit the relative humidity in the space at part load conditions.

I will be analyzing a small job shop - total building sq ft of less
than 14,000. I haven't used e+ before, I've printed the manuals and
have been looking through the program. It doesn't look terribly
complicated. Does anyone have any help or advice to share for modeling
a VRF type system? I will need to run an economic analysis on this
model as well, to compare the first costs and operating costs of this
VRF system to a 2 or 3 residential ducted furnace system.

About myself & the project: I am familiar with Trane Trace, I have not
used other heat load programs for facility analysis. I understand the
theory and fundamentals of fluid flow and thermodynamics very well.
VRF systems seem to intuitively have a lower operating cost, however
the firm I work at has not pushed these systems in the past; I am
working with an architect that is interested in this technology and
would like to see some proof that it can live up to its claims.

Thanks in advance,
