Some questions:

1) Are you referring to a heat pump water heater, or a water to air heat pump?
2) What troubles are you having with the condenser loop?  A condenser loop can be hooked directly to a water to air heat pump on the source side with an air loop on the load side.  Many of the example files included with E+ contain condenser loops.  HeatPumpWaterToAir.idf would be a good one to start with.
3) What troubles are you having with the pipe:adiabatic object?  This object may be used in several locations on the condenser loop.  This object requires only a name, inlet node, and outlet node.  I think all the example files which have plant loops will have Pipe:adiabatic objects.
