Has the error been fixed yet? Does the error make it not function at all,
or is there a work around?

There is a bug in the Run Simulation dialog. We will put out an update release before the end of the month that fixes the problem. In the meantime, use EP-Launch (comes with EnergyPlus) to run your simulations outside of SketchUp. Sorry for the inconvenience.
