[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Problems in specifying variable name in MVI files

Hi Linda

I have uploaded the zip folder (TEST) containing files you might need to look in to the problem. I have made changeS in the CustomCSV to get only monthly results. The folder also has the RVI and MVI files along with the corresponding CSV result files namely 600_11_05_NSEW_LIGHTS_monthly and 600_11_05_NSEW_LIGHTS_Meter_monthly.

These two files report the selected resultes I want from Eplus output. The RVI file and its CSV works fine. My problem is with regard to the MVI file. As you will see, the variable meter I want to be reported includes the zone name within in (also given in the MDD file). So, for this MVI to work I have to specify the detailed variable name, including the zone name. I have a huge number of such files (thousands) and I was trying to develop a macro to help automate this process of extracting results from Eplus output. In order to extract results from all those files I would have to know the zone names for every zone in each model (one model has five zones). Is there some way I can get the desired results without having to specify the zone name in the MVI file - some way to work with part variable name? I have tried a number of possibilities (readvars.audit) but without success. Please guide. I am sending a similar message to energyplus-support@xxxxxxxx.

thanks

Sanyogita
