I don't know about entering into design builder, but
EnergyPlus accomodates "detached shading".

It is better and as acccurate to model adjacent buildings with simple
rectangles -- DB seems to have a way to turn entire models of buildings
into shades but that will just add to execution time, with no real
gain.
