[EnergyPlus_Support] Why cannot Energeplus replace DOE2 in the field?

Hi, guys.

This is very fundamental question, but it is very important for
me.

When I learned energy simulations in my school several years ago, my professor said E+ would replace DOE2 like VisulaDOE, PowerDOE and Equest etc in the near future. So I decided to focus on E+ with my thesis topic for my Ph.D period.

However, DOE2 is still main steam in the field, and Eplus just supports DOEs for the cases that DOE cannot solve and is used for
research purposes.

What do you think the reason that E+ have not replace DOE2 now?

I also met many problems when I used Eplus for my work, so i also have my opinions of the problem of Eplus.

The first reason that I thought as the disadvantage of Eplus is
its stability. Sometimes inside air temperature of a models go to 100 C due to stability problem of Eplus.

Other problems is its complexity to use. It is related to pre- and post-processor program issue. It is relatively more uncomfortable to use than EQEST and VisualDOE etc.

I tried to overcome the problem of Eplus for my thesis.

What's your opinion of other problems of Eplus? Is it impossible to
replace Eplus to DOE2 ? For doing that, what is necessary for Eplus?

Thanks.
