Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Solar radiation data in the weather file.

You can use any time step if you have measured data. I am using one minute dat from our weather station.

Do you mean  there is no way to input the measured data in terms of minutes?

Have you tried before?

Thanks,

Bing

binb,

if u have measured solar radiatio in minutes then first u take average of one hour data then replace K,L,M column in weather file like split of global solar radiation in to direst normal  and diffuse horizontal solar radiations.

In weather file inputs are  houly data only.

I see..

I converted EPW into .CSV file and, the first five fields become date and time.

Thanks!

EnergyPlus does not automatically adjust the data for a new location.

The EPW format allows for minutes -- the only data we have is all hourly.  The 5th field is mins (usually 60) in all the existing EPWs.  See the Auxiliary Programs guide for more information on the EPW format.  http://energyplus. gov/pdfs/ auxiliaryprogram s.pdf

Subject: [EnergyPlus_ Support] Solar radiation data in the weather file.

Hi All,

I have two questions regarding to the solar radiation data in weather file.

1. If the downloaded weather data from DOE website is from airport, does E+ do an auto-scale for the actual  simulation place which is 20 miles away from airport, given the correct latitude and longitude ?  As we all know that the sky condition is changed from place to place.

2. If my measured data is in terms of minutes, where can I input these data into the weather file (e.g. the simulation time step could be 10 minutes)? The time format of the weather file is in hours.

Thank you very much!
