RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Missing Energy+.ini

Hi, Linda

I looked at the content of the .ini file in different versions.

It appears to me that it is similar to the old Window.ini entry.  A place to remember the shortened program file/directory name to over come the DOS 8 char name length limit.  The information  is  also in the Windows RegisterKEYS.

The file was created when I run the simulation the first time.  It was not modified after that.

========================= Version 4 (File size = 113 )
[program]
dir=C:\EN666F~1\
[BasementGHT]
dir=PreProcess\GrndTempCalc
[SlabGHT]
dir=PreProcess\GrndTempCalc
======================== Version 3.1
[program]
dir=C:\ENERGY~4\
[BasementGHT]
dir=PreProcess\GrndTempCalc
[SlabGHT]
dir=PreProcess\GrndTempCalc
=======================  Version 3.0 (file size = 158 )
[program]
dir=C:\ENERGY~3\
[spark]
dir=C:\ENERGY~3\sparklink\packages
[BasementGHT]
dir=PreProcess\GrndTempCalc
[SlabGHT]
dir=PreProcess\GrndTempCalc

============================
=========
After deleting the version 4 Energy+.ini file and run simulation again. The simulation ran withoug asking for the .ini file and created another one shown below:
(blank line +    total file length = 273)

[program]
dir=
====================
dir=  blank,  may imply the root directory.

If I restore my PC to a previous restore point before I deleted the .ini file, the old file may reappear again.

I am going to watch for this file after the next restore point.  This is the normal  behaviour of the VISTA OS.  The file is stored in so many places and with encripted file folder names, the disk space usage is un-belivable.

Does it run okay once it has created it?

I just installed v4.0 for MacOSX. Now when I run a simulation, the output says

Missing Energy+.ini

I've never noticed this before. I noticed that it created a file called "Energy+.ini" during the simulation, though. I thought that there wasn't a need for Energy+.ini unless the location of the main programs was changed.
