[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Energy simulation fee
Dear Dimos,
My name is Luís Saraiva, I'm about to graduate on Mechanichal Engineering in the field of thermal Energy at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (Portugal) and I also choosed to simulate a building with Energy Plus for my thesis.
Besides that, the thesis'll also consist in making a small comparison between two or three modelling softwares (to export to Energy Plus) and between Energy Plus and another simulation program accepted by ASHRAE 140-2004.
As a consequence, I'd like to ask you to ask your opinion about the programs I should use and if it's possible to let me see your thesis (and others you think that might be interesting).
Regards,
Luís Saraiva

Since I am a graduate student, I was able to get a student/educational discount for half the orginial price. I suggest just doing the trial and seeing if the software is adequate for your research. DesignBuilder allows you to model facilities w/ natural ventilation and, according to their website, they will soon release a version with a CFD tool. It allows you to also do many other things as far as building energy simulation as well. The DesignBuilder website is http://www.designbuilder.co.uk/ ; Hope this helps.
