First of all thanks for your response. I would like to inform you that the surface type which is exported for holes is "door". However doors are assumed to be opaque (do not transmit solar radiation) in EnergyPlus simulation.

As I'm quite new in E+, I tried to solve your problem by making a 2 floor, 2 zones on the 2nd floor building in Design Builder and exported it to idf format. (attached to this mail)

I made a hole on the floor between 1st and 2nd floor and a hole in a partition wall.

The result in the idf was two FenestrationSurface:Detailed objects for each hole that you can see with more detail in the idf file. As I'm quite new in E+ I won't make any comments on the way how this data was generated.

I am trying to seperate 2 zones with a horizontal virtual wall. Any advice for the construction of the virtual wall?
