Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] How to debug/identify these errors

Your single concrete material is too massive for the current CTF calculations.  Typically, we tell people to break them into pieces.  The below version will run:

Material,
    Concrete: Sand and gravel or stone aggregate concretes - 2400 kg/m3 - 102mm,  !- Name
    MediumRough,             !- Roughness
    0.102,                   !- Thickness {m}

thnk you prof. Li for your kind help....well a tried a new simulation almost like the previous one with some changes and with my best efforts able to keep my errors=1 warnings=1,warning is OK to me but im not able to make out the error...

Hi, Rahul

I usually only respond to questions with IDF posted, and posted with real name.

I had a look at your attachments.

The BMP file is the DOS screen.  If you right click your mouse on the screen, and select "select all" on the pop up, the file is saved in the windows clip-board, and you can "paste" it to a notepad or wordpad to see the whole file.

This file would show you where the simulation has stopped, but will not show you the IDF errors.
============ =======
Your first error file indicated 11 severe errors.  These are mainly input name errors.

Material:   to many spaces between "8     mm" This made it invisible to the construction objects, and the building surfaces.

The floor has a z-axis entry = 2.7.  Should be all zero (flat)

Design day object has incomplete fields after the wetbulb field.  These are optional.

DesignDay humidity indicator for Winter should have the same value as the maximum dry-bulb. (Warning only)

For the walls, "external environment" requires another field, or not valid field.  Use "outdoors" instead.

It appears to me that you have changed the IDF from an earlier version of Ex1.  Purchase Air, etc. are now changed to the new names.

Always 4, I have changed it to "control type".  "Any number" would work, but then there will be no type checking.

Always 20 is temperature, but can be any number.

Output variables has duplicated "hourly" , hourly;
There are extra spaces in the name as well.

In the schedule "All days" should be "AllDays", no space.

The run control object:   No, No, No, Yes, No. One Yes is the minimum.   You have left the   Yes   field blank.
============ ========= =
If you read the error file careful, these are all listed or pointed to, but not explained with suggestion for corrections, except those have option field names.

The corrected  IDF is attached.

Please do not hesitate to contact me again, if you have more questions.  I am a retired EE Professor in Canada.

 Dr. Li

Subject: [EnergyPlus_ Support] How to debug/identify these errors

I am a beginner to Energy Plus.The first program that I tried to simulate gave me this error in Command prompt while simulating and Energy plus terminates.I have attached the error showing screen and my .idf file.

                                                 Will be helpful if anyone can reply with sum suggestions.
