Problem solved...Changed Explorer in Window Vista to show the actual file extension. Looked up the file in question and changed its extension from .expidf to just .idf.
Then I could open it with EP-Launch, open it in the IDF Editor, run simulation with EP-Launch.
Also I was able to open it with OpenStudio where the file was originally generated and run the simulation there as well.
So, curiously, what is the .expidf file extension and when is it required? or when is it generated? and why did OpenStudio originally generate a .expdif file and not an standard .idf file, but now just saves everthing back to a .idf file?
At least my problem is generally solved.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Need an EP-Launch File
I have some IDF files that are not associated with a Specific EP-Launch File. These IDF files are actual expanded IDF (.EXPIDF) created by Sketchup7. Is there a way to associate EP-Launch? When I browse with EP-Launch it does not see the .EXPIDF File.
