Morning,
I'm Andrew, and I'm using Peter Lyons password to access to this forum (with his blessing(!)).
We are using E+ to simulate a building where we are attemtping to input the size of the HVAC manually. We are using the front end package DesignBuilder (DB) to affect this input (ie we input our sizes into DB). The E+ .idf seems to accept the HVAC sizing input to DB quite happily - when we open up the .idf and look under Coil:Cooling (or Coil:Heating) and then under the Rated Cooling (or Heating) Capacity, it echoes the size of the HVAC we input into DB. All other aspects are Autosized, which pp 471 of the InputOutputReference of the E+ manual indicate is OK (ie, Mixing User-Specified and Autosized Inputs is OK)
When we run the simulation we either get a Fatal Error in sizing OR, more often, the HVAC sizing reverts back to being Autosized (which we have confirmed by carrying out an Autosized run - the values in the Autosize and our supposed manual HVAC come out the same).
Anyone come across this, managed to solve this and thus run sims with a user defined HVAC size??
