Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Primary/Secondary Hydronic Loops

Thanks:

Thanks for your reply and it's great that the program can handle these HVAC configurations.  I actually have downloaded the program.  So you recommend that I look in the Input/Output reference for such answers?  Isn't that the 2200 page document?  How would I use that huge document to look for answers to such questions?  Do I look for Primary/Secondary...DCV...VFD?  I could get lost in it and spend days or I could simply ask someone that knows.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Mike

Dear Mike,

Itâ??s best if you download the program and then skim the reference documentation.  In your case, the Input / Output Reference will be very helpful.

In short:
·         Primary / secondary: Yes
·         Variable pump power: Yes
·         Specific pumping system considerations: Yes (probably with a custom coefficient set for pump power)
·          DCV: Yes

All:

Can E+ model primary/secondary loops? Can it model the change in pump power according to varying pump load? What about the resultant total dynamic head after the design is complete and all design restrictions have been taken into account? And what about DCV (Demand Control Ventilation? Can it adjust the building load as it relates to reduced ventilation loads? Sorry for the 20 questions. I'm just new to E+ and this users group.

Regards,

Mike Porter
