Karen,
Sorry about that, the HVAC and daylighting pages were not fully accessible, but should be now. To summarise, the relevant pages are:
www.designbuilder.co.uk/content/view/115/182/ for info on the new v3 HVAC functionality (not yet available for testing)
www.designbuilder.co.uk/content/view/114/181/ for info on DesignBuilder v3 daylighting capabilities (beta test software now available)
www.designbuilder.com/betas - to download the first v3 beta software
Please let me know if you get any more problems.
Regards,
Andy

Subject: Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] DesignBuilder v3 beta with improved IDF readability and Radiance daylighting
Even after logging in, I get a message that states the the page can only be viewed with a login. I would definitely be interested to see what is planned for HVAC systems.
Thanks,

The first DesignBuilder v3 beta software is now available with 2 important new features:
1. Better IDF readability through use of user-defined block/zone names in IDF zone and surface names. This should be a big improvement on those frustrating numeric zone references which we know our users have been struggling with when having to edit DesignBuilder IDF output.
2. Radiance daylighting which provides daylight contour plots and average daylight factor and uniformity outputs for each zone calculated using the Radiance daylighting simulation engine. You can read more on this at: www.designbuilder.co.uk/content/view/114/181/
In common with our current main release v.2.3.6, the v3 beta uses the latest EnergyPlus v6 which has some significant execution speed improvements over previous versions.
Please feel free to download the current v3 beta test software from:
If you already have a v2 DesignBuilder EnergyPlus license then you will be able to use the new version without restrictions. Otherwise you can get a 30 evaluation.
We'd be glad to hear any feedback you may have on these new features.
Also a quick update on DesignBuilder v3 HVAC development. Although this is not yet publically available, I'm pleased to say that we are now running complex HVAC simulations of various system types using the new interface. You can read more about the new v3 HVAC features at: www.designbuilder.co.uk/content/view/115/182/
DesignBuilder v3 is scheduled for release in April 2011.
