RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] User Design Load

Dear Shaun,

It sounds as though you’ve got a very large Heating Sizing Factor in Sizing:Parameters or Sizing:Zone.  When the User Design Load is larger than the Calculated, it means that you’ve manually sized something instead of autosized or used a large Sizing Factor.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] User Design Load

Hi,

In my model I am using HVACTemplate:Zone:WaterToAirHeatPump, and have autosized the cooling and heating coil rated capacity.

The "Zone Heating" output report states that my

Calculated Design Load [W] = 14,903 W (which is about right)

and

User Design Load [W] = 208,084 W (which is about 186 kW too high)

Because the program seems to use the "User Design Load" for total heating load on the plant, can you please tell me where this number is entered in the input file or how I control its calculation.

The documentation is mute on this.

Thanks,
Shaun Martin
