It is difficult to tell without the IDF.
Please note that HVACTemplate:Zone:IdealLoadsAirSystem is a zone object, one per zone.
HVACTemplate:System:PackagedVAV is a system object, which may need additional objects to feed the zones.
You should not use the expIDF to make the changes.
If you are using one packaged system per zone, there are different zone models available. (Window AC,, for example.)

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] HVACTemplate Packaged VAV with DX Cooling
Dear all,
According to the InputOutputReference document (pdf-page 1992 on HVAC Template Objects ) one should be able to model a Packaged variable air volume systems with direct-expansion cooling using HVAC templates objects.
However I get rror messages as you can see below in this mail. The following objects were used:
- HVACTemplate: Thermostat
- HVACTemplate:Zone:VAV
- HVACTemplate:System:PackagedVAV
- HVACTemplate:Plant:HotWaterLoop
- HVACTemplate:Plant:Boiler
Before I started to model the Packaged VAV with DX, I modeled a very simplified problem where I used simple ideal loads system using the following objects:
- HVACTemplate:thermostat
- HVACTemplate:Zone:IdealLoadsAirSystem
This model worked out well and I could get results from it. The only change I have made developing the new Packaged VAV with DX model was deleting the HVACTemplate:Zone:IdealLoadsAirSystem and introducing new HVACTemplates as shown above.
I couldn't get the answer to this problem until now. You may have solved this problem earlier or have heard about it. Please inform me how you think I can solve this!
