When you say "I am working on analyzing the performance of shading and want to see the hourly results for shading performance."

what hourly results specifically do you mean? The energy consumption impact of shading? If this is the case then you should run one model with shading and one model without and then compare the hourly electric and natural gas consumption reports.

If you want the energy absorbed by the shades, try this output:

really all of the following variables will give you some measure of the shading performance:

If your file is very large then I would avoid reporting these variables for all surfaces, as that will drastically slow down your simulation. If this is the case, replace * with the surface or zone name of interest.

In order to report any of the above variables, simply include the line of code above in the input file and then simulate. The output will be available in the file that ends in .csv
This file can be opened by excel. Also, if you have a results viewer such as xESO viewer, you can view the results in the file that ends in .eso

your final question about separating out the energy consumption of the individual zones depends on how you are conditioning your zones? Do you have a mechanical system or are you using the IdealLoads air system or purchased air?

if you just want to know the load on an hourly basis, use this:

Output:Variable,*,Zone/Sys Sensible Heating Rate,hourly; !- HVAC Average [W]
Output:Variable,*,Zone/Sys Sensible Cooling Rate,hourly; !- HVAC Average [W]

If you want actual energy consumption then you could simulate with one of the zones air terminals scheduled off (and all of the zones loads as scheduled off)
and then do the same for the other zone.

My .rdd shows all the variables still I cannot find it in the simulation output.
Also, my building has 2 zones and I want to see the energy used by the zones separately.
the output that I get gives me the addition of both the zones.
what can be done to see different zones energy consumption differently.

I would first check that the desired output variable you are using is present in your .rdd file and the correct timestep is indicated.

 

For viewing results I like to use the OpenStudio Results Viewer which uses the SQL output format, or xESO View for the .eso format.

HI All

when I put hourly results for shading in output variable , I am not able to see the results .

Is there a way to see clean hourly graphs from the analysis.

I am new to E+ and have not used the output function in detail.
